Sharrath Marar Lost 8 Crore with Sardaar?

If the trade buzz is to be believed, producer Sharrath Marar had lost Rs 8 Crore with Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Delay in the film, and change of director, heroine, art director, cinematographer and partial advances or remunerations paid to them, maintenance and pre-production works all together costed him a bomb. Even before the film had hit the floors, Sharrath had apparently spent whopping Rs 8 Crore.

Sampath Nandi was the initial choice as director for Sardaar and later on he was replaced with director Bobby. Cinematographer Jayanan Vincent opted out of the film and his place was filled by cameraman Arthur Wilson and Andrew worked as the cameraman for the second unit. Pawan’s friend and noted art director Anand Sai worked over a week for the film and later Brahma Kadali stepped into his shoes.

After auditioning Anisha Ambrose and roping in as the female lead, the makers have zeroed in on Kajal Aggarwal as the princess. Also the delay in the whole process too made Sardaar an over-budget flick. It was Eros which said to have made money on the film. And film’s buyers, who bet high on the film, too lost their monies. On the whole, Sharrath too didn’t make much money but he is pretty content that he is able to finish the film and release it on time – April 8.
