Sandhya Theatre Incident: CM Revanth Reddy Criticizes Allu Arjun in Assembly

December 21, 2024

The tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre, which resulted in the death of a mother named Revathi and left her young son fighting for his life, continues to dominate public discourse. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed the matter in the Telangana Assembly today, delivering sharp criticism against actor Allu Arjun, whom he held accountable for the events leading up to the stampede.

The Chief Minister stated that Allu Arjun had been explicitly advised not to visit the theatre due to safety concerns, as the venue had only one entry and exit point, making crowd control challenging. Despite this, the actor not only attended but also arrived in an open-roof car, which CM Revanth alleged instigated an uncontrollable crowd frenzy. The resulting stampede tragically claimed the life of Revathi, a mother, while her son continues to battle for survival.

“Allu Arjun and the heroine were specifically instructed not to come to the theatre due to logistical and safety concerns. However, the actor disregarded these instructions, leading to a sequence of events that resulted in the unfortunate tragedy,” the Chief Minister remarked during his speech.

The CM further criticized the subsequent celebrations held at Allu Arjun’s residence after his release from police custody, questioning the propriety of the film industry rallying to support the actor while neglecting the bereaved family.

“Did the actor lose a limb or suffer some grave injustice to warrant such a show of solidarity from the film fraternity? Why didn’t any of these celebrities take a moment to console the grieving family or check on the injured child fighting for his life?” Revanth Reddy questioned passionately.

The Chief Minister also expressed outrage over the actor’s behavior following the incident, alleging that Allu Arjun continued to wave to fans and greet the crowd while exiting the theatre, despite knowing about the devastating stampede.

The Assembly session saw an emotionally charged Revanth Reddy emphasizing that the matter is far from resolved, contrary to public perception that the controversy ended with Allu Arjun’s brief detention.

As the state grapples with the aftermath of this tragic incident, the CM’s remarks underscore the need for accountability and sensitivity from public figures in such critical situations. The discussion in the Assembly has reignited public debate, with many awaiting further developments.
