Shiv Sena calls Owaisi BJP’s facilitator, MIM MP hits back

The highly-anticipated Assembly general elections in Uttar Pradesh are fast approaching that is slated to be commenced next year, following which the major political parties are focusing on making plans to win the elections. Hyderabad-based AIMIM party is also eyeing the elections.

Against this backdrop, the Shiv Sena party became critical of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen(AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on religious polarisation and opined that Owaisi is facilitating the BJP.

Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana in its editorial spoke about the religious polarisation of AIMIM and felt that the Muslims in India are not in a position to see people like Owaisi as their leaders.

The newspaper found fault with the religious polarisation and questioned Owaisi’s provocative speeches as part of his campaign in Prayagraj. The mouthpiece said that at the meeting, Pakistan Zindabad slogans were raised by the crowd allegedly.

Adding further, the editorial had termed Owaisi the facilitator of BJP with his provocative speeches for a long time and said the AIMIM chief is doing the same keeping the general elections in mind.

Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece also came down severely on the saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) for using religious polarisation for the elections and asked can’t the party come out of such practices to get the votes.

The editorial said that earlier there were no incidents where the crowd raised the pro-Pakistan slogans at the political events and when Owaisi was promoting his party, such slogans were raised. It also said that to emerge as the national leader, Owaisi has to inform the Muslims in the country that they are also a part of the country. Unless he does that, he will be a facilitator for a national party, the editorial said.

Citing the examples of West Bengal and Bihar, the editorial said that due to the strategy applied by Owaisi, the equations have changed in the Bihar elections and that’s why Tejashwi Yadav could not become the Bihar Chief Minister.

Aurangabad AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel hit back at the criticism and said the criticism was made by the political parties and not by the people. While ShivSena was confined to Maharashtra alone, AIMIM is increasing its base, the MP said.
