Superstar Rajinikanth is reportedly being extremely selective about his upcoming projects, as he is said to be planning to gradually wind down his acting career over the next couple of years. With this in mind, the veteran actor is focusing more than ever on strong scripts and well-packaged stories.

For the much-discussed Thalaivar173, the project has already witnessed multiple changes in direction. Initially, filmmaker Sundar C was brought on board and the film was even launched with good buzz. However, he exited the project within a week, reportedly due to creative differences related to the script.

Later, the project was handed over to Cibi Chakravarthy, but reports now suggest that he too has stepped away. His final version of the script is said to have not fully satisfied Rajinikanth’s expectations, prompting the team to once again search for a new director.

Interestingly, a similar situation was observed in another proposed multistarrer featuring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Initially, Lokesh Kanagaraj was considered for the project, but plans reportedly changed following the response to Coolie. Later, Vivek Athreya was also in discussions before the project eventually moved to Nelson Dilipkumar, who is currently directing Jailer 2.
