In yet another shock to Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, senior Dalit leader and former chairman of SC/ST Commission Karem Sivaji is all set to take a plunge into the ruling YSR Congress party.
Sivaji, a prominent Mala leader and former president of Mala Mahanadu, resigned from the post of SC/ST Commission chairman only on Thursday, six months after the YSR Congress party came to power.
He wrote letters to chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and also TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to this effect.
Party sources said Sivaji along with hundreds of his followers would join the YSRC in the presence of Jagan later in the day.
Sivaji’s defection follows the jumping of aother prominent Mala leader Jupudi Prabhakar Rao who also deserted the TDP to join the YSRC. Both the defections are a big setback to the TDP.
Like Jupudi, Sivaji was also highly critical of the YSRC and Jagan till recently. He accused the YSRC of being hand in glove with the BJP, which was trying to destabilise the TDP government.
But such leaders have chosen to defect to the same party which they had abused till recently for their political survival!
