Peddi Hit Song ‘Chikiri’ Writer Gets Little Credit

The first song that brought significant buzz to Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi is “Chikiri.” The track quickly topped several music charts and became a sensation on social media, with thousands of users creating reels and short videos using the catchy number. However, the lyricist behind the song remains largely unknown to many listeners.

The lyrics for “Chikiri” were written by Balaji, who has previously penned several popular songs in Telugu cinema. His earlier works include “Emandoi Nani Garu Cheppandoi Chinni Garu” from MCA (Middle Class Abbayi), “Girra Girra Girra” from F2: Fun and Frustration, “Seetimaar” from Duvvada Jagannadham, and “Uppenantha” from Arya 2.

Despite having several well-known songs to his credit, Balaji has not received much publicity from filmmakers, even after delivering a chartbuster like “Chikiri.”

Meanwhile, another song from Peddi, titled “Rai Rai Rara,” was written by popular lyricist Anantha Sriram and released after “Chikiri.” However, Anantha Sriram has been actively promoting the film’s music, appearing in multiple interviews across various media platforms.

This contrast in recognition has sparked discussion among some members of the writers’ association. Many feel that Balaji also deserves similar visibility and credit for writing a massive hit like “Chikiri.”

One writer commented, “Filmmakers rarely give publicity to an unknown face, even if they deliver the best work. They often prefer using a popular name for promotions. Anantha Sriram is already a well-known lyricist, while Balaji is not. That’s the reality of the industry.”
