Jagan was on a flow before this COVID-19 pandemic. There was this three capital controversy followed by many welfare schemes like ‘Amma Vodi’ to balance and then came the local body elections for Jagan to prove his supremacy in the state.
Unfortunately, even though Jagan has done everything he could to clean sweep the local body polls, the COVID-19 pandemic ruined all his plans. Now, after the criticism on his failure to control the COIVID-19 spread in AP and his response to the victims of the Vizag gas leak incident, the political environment changed a bit in AP.
The local body polls will happen soon after the reduction in the COVID-19 cases number or after the lockdown restrictions get lifted. So, Jagan is already giving signals to his party leaders to be prepared for the polls as the slightest improvement in the TDP vote bank will show the instability of the YSRCP government.
Jagan is very much feared of the possibility of the shocking results and hence he is continuing the welfare schemes even in this crisis period. Some candidates are supplying the essential goods for free all of a sudden to the people in villages and the YSRCP leaders in Visakha’s 52nd ward took one step forward and are giving free chicken and fish to their ward people.
Jagan also warned the candidates that if the results got reversed at the last minute, they have to resign in Rajya Sabha as well without any thought. As Jagan doesn’t want both reversed results and resignations, he is just reminding his leaders not to take the local polls for granted.
