Superstar Mahesh Babu is one of the few stars in south who charges a remuneration of around 50 crores. There are reports that the other star heroes are also demanding 30 to 40 crores taking a cue from Mahesh Babu. Now, the situation is going to be changed.
Due to covid-19 outbreak and the after-effects, the remuneration of heroes will see a drastic decline. If the heroes demand the same old remunerations now, the producers will incur huge losses.
Overseas market is a big boon for Tollywood films. The big star heroes command a market of 10 crores in the overseas. Now, the entire overseas market is crashed due to Covid-19.
Trade analysts are saying that it takes at least 6 months for the recovery of the overseas market. As the Telugu NRIs are facing issues of unemployment and cut down in wages, they may not be ready to buy movie tickets like before.
If this situation prevails for a few months, each star hero’s film will see a loss of 5 – 6 crores gross. Mahesh is known as the Overseas King. So, the first impact is going to be on his films.
The blessing in disguise here is that no star hero film is slated for release now. The films of Mahesh, Prabhas, NTR, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan etc are slated for release only after 6 months. Trade analysts are expecting that everything will become normal by then.
If that doesn’t happen, all the big stars have to compromise on their remunerations for sure. On top of it, economists are predicting financial crisis in the near future. That will result in unemployment and a cut in the salaries of the employees.
Considering these things, fixing the uniform rate of Rs. 300-500 per ticket by the makers to collect crores of money is not possible.
On the whole, the budgets will reduce and that will in turn reduce the remunerations of stars.
