In the film Boys, the heroine’s name is Harini (played by Genelia). There’s a strong emotional reason behind that name. In the story, Genelia’s father sacrifices his true love—whose name was Harini—in order to lead a better life. To keep her memory alive, he later names his daughter Harini. Though he loved Harini deeply, life demanded compromises, and from that sacrifice, the name Harini was born.
Interestingly, a similar real-life story has come to light about Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. What makes it even more special is that his daughter Shruti Haasan revealed this personal chapter from his past. She spoke about her father’s first love, reminding everyone of “Harini” from Boys.
Shruti revealed that Kamal Haasan once fell deeply in love with a woman named Aparna. In order to impress her, he even learned Bengali, as she was a Bengali woman. That was the depth of his affection for her. Later, in his film Hey Ram, Kamal named Rani Mukerji’s character Aparna, a clear tribute to his first love.
Shruti’s revelation instantly went viral on social media. Fans began to post comments, calling it “Kamal’s unknown love story,” while others noted how his real life seemed as dramatic and filled with love stories as his films.
In his personal life, Kamal Haasan first married Vani Ganapathy, but they parted ways in 1988. He later married Sarika Thakur in 1991, but that marriage too ended in 2004 after 13 years. He was then in a long-term relationship with Telugu actress Gautami for 11 years before they eventually separated. At present, Kamal lives as a single man.
This newly revealed story about Aparna adds yet another layer to the fascinating and eventful personal life of the legendary actor.
