Siddhu Jonnalagadda, one of the most talked-about young actors in Telugu cinema, has had a rollercoaster journey over the past few years. After making a strong impression with DJ Tillu and its sequel Tillu Square, Siddhu became a familiar name in Telugu households. Tillu Square emerged as a blockbuster, entering the 100-crore club and solidifying his reputation as a crowd-puller known for his unique dialogue delivery and comic timing.
However, his recent release Jack, earlier this year, turned out to be a major disappointment for both audiences and trade. The film failed to generate pre-release buzz and could not recover after negative word-of-mouth, ending up as the biggest setback in Siddhu’s career, collecting less than one-tenth of Tillu Square’s box office numbers. Demonstrating professionalism, Siddhu even returned Rs 4.5 crore from his remuneration to help minimize losses for the producers.
During the promotions of his upcoming film Telusu Kada, Siddhu spoke about handling pressure after experiencing the highs and lows of a blockbuster. He shared, “After Tillu Square, I knew at least one or two films would suffer because of the expectations. When Jack failed, Koratala Siva garu told me, ‘You’ve seen both extremes — the peak with Tillu Square and the fall with Jack. From here on, nothing will surprise you. Whatever comes next will be somewhere in between.’” He added that these words helped him gain a new perspective, though he acknowledged, “Pain is pain when your film doesn’t do well.”
Telusu Kada, a romantic drama directed by stylist-turned-filmmaker Neeraja Kona, stars Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty. The film is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad, with music composed by Thaman S. The movie is scheduled for release on October 17.
