Bollywood seems to be getting back on track with a strong run at the box office. Recently, the youthful romantic drama “Syyara” turned into a massive blockbuster, shaking the Indian box office. The film is on its way to crossing the ₹500 crore mark in its long run. Riding on this momentum, trade experts believe there is a renewed demand for romantic love stories and romantic comedies in Bollywood, and many such films are expected to find success in the coming months.
Amidst this trend comes another romantic comedy-drama, “Param Sundari,” directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan. The film is slated for a grand release on August 29.
Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, a major portion of Param Sundari was shot in South India. Interestingly, reports suggest that the story itself has a South Indian backdrop. Owing to this, there is speculation that the film could also be dubbed and released in South Indian languages.
Recently, the song “Paradesiya” from the film was released and has been receiving a very positive response. The stunning visuals and the on-screen chemistry of Sidharth and Janhvi have particularly caught the audience’s eye, further boosting the positive buzz around the movie. In fact, Sidharth’s stylish look in the song has become a hot topic of discussion across Bollywood circles.
Over the past few years, Sidharth Malhotra has been appreciated for choosing content-driven films, and Param Sundari appears to continue that trend with a fresh romantic-comedy theme. With four weeks to go for the release, the makers have already succeeded in building strong anticipation. If they manage to sustain this buzz, the film is expected to open big at the box office.
Trade analysts predict that in order to compete with the phenomenal success of Syyara, Param Sundari will need to collect over ₹100 crores within its first few days. Considering the current hype, analysts believe such numbers are within reach.
Initially scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, the film was postponed for undisclosed reasons. However, ever since the first look and on-set pictures of Sidharth and Janhvi surfaced on social media, the project has been a talking point. With every new update from the makers, expectations have only increased. After the latest song release, many critics are calling the film a “minimum guarantee” hit. Fans too are eagerly waiting, expressing their excitement on social media.
The music for Param Sundari has been composed by the popular duo Sachin–Jigar. The big question now is whether this film will mark Janhvi Kapoor’s first major Bollywood blockbuster.
