Speculation is rife in Andhra Pradesh political circles that a reconciliation may be on the cards between YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Y S Sharmila.
Adding fuel to these discussions, senior YSRCP leader and former MLC Satish Kumar Reddy from Pulivendula stated that there is a strong possibility of the siblings coming together again in the near future. His comments have triggered widespread debate across political and media circles.
After differences surfaced between the siblings, Sharmila launched her own political outfit in Telangana before eventually joining the Congress party and assuming charge as the APCC president. She contested the 2024 elections, but failed to secure a victory.
For a long time, Sharmila directed her political criticism sharply at Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSR Congress Party. However, political observers have noted a clear shift in her approach in recent months.
According to Satish Kumar Reddy, Jagan Mohan Reddy continues to hold deep affection for his sister and is not someone who would deliberately act against her. He further pointed out that in her current role as APCC chief, Sharmila has been focusing her attacks primarily on the ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh, rather than targeting Jagan or the YSRCP.
Unlike in the past, Sharmila has refrained from making direct allegations against her brother—something Satish Kumar Reddy described as a positive and significant development.
Political analysts have also highlighted that Sharmila recently extended birthday wishes to Jagan for the first time since their public fallout. Jagan’s warm response, addressing her affectionately as “Thank you, amma,” has further strengthened speculation about improving relations between the siblings.
