At Dreamforce 2025, Slack unveiled its most ambitious transformation yet — evolving into an “agentic operating system” built to unify human and AI collaboration. The upgraded platform connects people, data, apps, and AI agents within Slack, positioning it as the central conversational workspace for modern enterprises.
“Every company is asking where their agents will live, how they’ll get context, and how to make them useful. Slack is the answer,” said Denise Dresser, CEO of Slack. “By making Slack the conversational interface for Salesforce, we’re giving every employee a trusted, unified home for AI and agents, transforming how work gets done.”
The announcement signifies Slack’s evolution from a messaging app into a productivity hub powered by AI. The company introduced major innovations including a rebuilt native AI engine, a personalised Slackbot assistant, and a Channel Expert agent that delivers instant, in-channel knowledge. These capabilities enable employees to find answers, automate tasks, and manage workflows effortlessly.
Slack also becomes the conversational interface for Salesforce through new Agentforce integrations, allowing sales, IT, HR, and analytics teams to access and act on Salesforce data directly within Slack using natural language.
Salesforce customer Engine described Slack as its new “command centre.” Mollie Bodensteiner, SVP of Operations at Engine, said, “Slack and Salesforce give us the structure to automate what slows people down and the flexibility to keep innovating as we grow.”
The reimagined Slackbot now functions as a personal AI companion, capable of summarising meetings, drafting project plans, and offering contextual insights across tools like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Salesforce. “Slackbot is showing us what the next era of productivity looks like,” noted Andy White, SVP, Salesforce on Salesforce Technology.
To power enterprise-wide AI integration, Slack also launched developer tools such as the Real-Time Search API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, enabling partners like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, and Notion to build intelligent agents directly within Slack.
For example, ChatGPT will now surface insights via Slack’s API to accelerate decisions, while Claude and Gemini-powered Agentspace enhance collaboration through contextual intelligence.
Guillermo Rauch, CEO of Vercel, summed up the platform’s impact: “Slack is the perfect AI agents platform. Our agents don’t feel like tools — they feel like team members.”
