Yami Gautam has spoken about whether the phenomenal success of Dhurandhar and its sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge has brought any personal or professional change for her and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar.

Helmed by Aditya Dhar, the Dhurandhar franchise has been a major box office force in recent times. The first instalment released on December 5, followed by the sequel on March 19, 2026. Both films emerged as massive commercial blockbusters, rewriting box office records.

In a recent conversation, Yami clarified that despite the overwhelming success, it has not changed them as individuals. “Nothing has changed us as people. That comes from Aditya as well—he is extremely grounded and humble. I’ve seen him go through different phases in life—successes, failures, and vulnerable moments—but we’ve never allowed emotions like frustration to take over,” she said.

She further highlighted the importance of spirituality in their lives. “We are both deeply grateful to God. Faith is very important to us. We believe that what is meant for you will come at the right time—maybe delayed, but never denied,” she added.

Speaking about the broader impact of the Dhurandhar success, Yami emphasised the return of strong storytelling in cinema. According to her, the film’s performance reflects a shift in audience preference toward meaningful content over gimmicks.

“Cinema has always been a director’s medium. The fundamentals—story, writing, and execution—are what truly matter. We are seeing a return to basics, and that is a significant change,” she noted.

She also pointed out that audiences are actively seeking quality films. “There was a phase where bringing people to theatres was difficult, and many experiments were tried. But when audiences show up in large numbers, it clearly means they want good cinema. If you deliver it, they will not only watch but come back again,” she said.

The Dhurandhar series boasts a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The story of the first part follows an undercover Indian agent infiltrating a global terror network, while the sequel expands the narrative on a larger, more intense scale.

Notably, Dhurandhar: The Revenge surpassed the lifetime collection of its predecessor within just 11 days, further cementing the franchise’s massive popularity.
