Sr Actor Gundu Hanumantha Rao No More

 

Well-known comedian, actor, TV artiste Gundu Hanumantha Rao is no more. The popular actor breathed his last early today (around 3.30 AM on Feb 19, 2018) at his residence in SR Nagar, Hyderabad. He was 61.

Gundu Hanumantha Rao is survived by his son who completed his MS in the US and returned to India to look after his ailing father. Gundu Hanumantha Rao had been suffering from heart-related ailments for the past three years. According to his relatives, Hanumantha Rao underwent dialysis followed by heart surgery last year. His health slowly deteriorated leading to his sudden death.

Hanumantha Rao is quite popular for his role in Amrutham tele serial which went on to be one of the successful TV shows. Hanumantha Rao was a famous stage artiste before entering into films, TV serials. He had won 3 Nandi Awards from AP State government for his work for TV and one being for his role in Amrutham.

Gundu Hanumantha Rao made his film debut in 1987 with Jandhyala’s iconic film Aha Na Pellanta and there’s no looking back for him since then. He went on to acts in films such as Pellaniki Premalekha Priyuraliki Subhalekha in 1992, Rajendradu Gajendradu, Mayaloodu, Jodi No.1, Nenu Seetamahalakshmi, Kedi No.1, Apparao Driving School, Kalyanam, Original, Neramu Siksha, High School, Kothoka Vintha, Colors, Panchamukhi, Sri Sai Sankalpam, Mano Balam and etc.

Telugu film fraternity and the Movie Artistes Association has expressed deep condolences for the untimely death of Hanumantha Rao. His final rites will take place today evening at Erragadda Burial Ground in SR Nagar. Many film, TV actors are expected to pay their final tributes to Gundu Hanumantha Rao’s mortal remains.
