Sreenath Bhasi Accused of Drug Use on Film Sets by Producer Haseeb Malabar

Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko’s recent controversy over alleged drug use has opened a can of worms in the industry, with more names now surfacing. In a startling revelation, Malayalam film producer Haseeb Malabar has accused actor Sreenath Bhasi—best known recently for his role in Manjummel Boys—of demanding drugs on set.

In a candid interview, Haseeb shared his troubling experience while working with Sreenath on the film Namukku Kodathiyal Kaanam. He alleged that the actor caused repeated disruptions during filming, refusing to cooperate unless he was given marijuana.

Haseeb recalled an incident where he received a call at 3 AM from Bhasi’s team, informing him that the actor was demanding marijuana and refusing to shoot otherwise. The producer claimed Sreenath often brought the substance to the sets, hid it inside his caravan, and used it between scenes—barring others from entering the caravan altogether.

Although Haseeb considered filing a police complaint, he refrained out of fear that it would stall the production. He also noted that several other producers had faced similar issues, unaware of the challenges until it was too late.

This isn’t the first time Sreenath Bhasi has been embroiled in controversy. Back in 2023, his name surfaced in connection with a drug case involving gangster Omprakash. Around the same time, industry insiders voiced concerns about his behavior, and Bhasi was briefly arrested for allegedly using inappropriate language with a TV anchor.

These latest allegations have reignited the conversation around substance abuse in the Malayalam film industry, raising serious concerns about on-set professionalism and accountability.
