Srimanthudu Movie Review
Story:
Harsha (Mahesh Babu) is the son of a multimillionaire Ravi (Jagapathi Babu) who do not want to inherit his father’s riches but wants to earn respect for himself from people. He happens to meet Charuseela (Shruti Hassan) and falls in love instantly. Even though she likes him, Charu tries to avoid him after knowing his family background. To what extent Mahesh Babu goes to win her is the rest of the story.
Performances:
Srimanthudu is one of the career best performances for Mahesh Babu. He totally gave in a refresh look as well as acting in the movie. His body language is totally different to all his previous film and even the dialogue modulation is impressive. There were at times, he allowed the content to take the driver’s seat which should be appreciated.
Shruti Hassan could not make much of an effect in acting. However she was oozing glamour in the songs. Jagapathi Babu and Rajendra Prasad put up matured performances and lived up to their stature. Rahul Ravindran has got a limited role and he is good in that. Sukanya gets a very minimal role and Poorna appeared in Rama Rama Song.
Technical Performances:
Koratala Siva should be commended for taking up a content prominent film. The storyline even if simple is good and the screenplay is taut. This is one such rare occasion, content is combined with good commercial elements. The dialogues are too good particularly during the family drama scenes in the second half. Fights are very impressive particularly that Arati Thota fight. Coming to the weaklinks, the VFX work in the title song is bad and the climax is too lengthy and can be a turn off for the film.
Devi Sri Prasad had done good work with the music album. Three songs particularly Jago re Jago are very impressive. The back ground score is also decent. Madhie’s camera work is rich and colourful. Editing should have been better towards the climax.

Final Say:
Srimanthudu is a different offering from Mahesh Babu. He deviated from the thumb rule that only mindless comedy can be entertaining and projected the content as the real hero. The right blend of content and commerce will keep you interested and entertained. Go for it!
