Srimanthudu Style: Publicity Or Charity?

sriman23

After Mahesh Babu took the job of adopting a village in his “Srimanthudu”, there are many such happenings around. From Ratan Tata to Manchu Vishnu, many millionaires are adopting villages. Their basic target is to provide infrastructure and good living apart from health, sanitation and education facilities. In Telugu states, many other rich persons are coming forward to take up these adoption assignments.

Looking at these developments, one feels, if these adoptions are merely for charity or there is any publicity angle to it. Because Srimanthudu success has brought more colour to this adoption than anything else. Much of the adoptions look like a publicity for millionaires though they are spending real money to help poor villages.

“There is adoption of villages, much before independence and post that. From years, many people have started NGOs and adopted villages. But a star hero’s film on that note has brought attention to it, to an extent. Though there are some other films like Oka Oorilo that touched similar concepts, they don’t have stars so none noticed it”, says a cine expert.

Anyway, with many donators coming forward to adopt villages, let us put it this way- It’s publicly done charity, with a bit of publicity. And that publicity helps others to get inspired to donate.
