Stalin Slams Hindi Imposition, Warns BJP Over Education Funds

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has once again voiced strong opposition to the imposition of Hindi in the education system, warning against undermining India’s linguistic and cultural diversity. His latest remarks came in the context of growing resistance to the three-language policy in states beyond Tamil Nadu, notably Maharashtra.

Stalin lauded Maharashtra’s recent stance, particularly acknowledging the speeches by Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, who spoke out against making Hindi mandatory in schools. He stated that the anti-Hindi imposition movement, which began in Tamil Nadu, is now gaining traction nationally.

The Chief Minister accused the BJP-led central government of attempting to link central educational funds to the mandatory implementation of Hindi as a third language—a move he labeled as unjust. He claimed that the BJP had to scale back its efforts in Maharashtra following public outrage.

Stalin further criticized the Centre for displaying bias towards Hindi and Sanskrit while neglecting other Indian languages. He emphasized that Tamil Nadu’s opposition to Hindi imposition is not rooted in hatred, but in the desire to uphold India’s rich linguistic diversity and protect regional identities.

Concluding his statement, Stalin issued a stern warning to the BJP: if the Centre fails to release the funds owed to Tamil Nadu for education and does not reverse its language policies, the people will respond decisively through the ballot box.
