At that time some audiences would have felt if that is a real possible thing, but what could the director do when people are threatening him?
Calling that Rani Padmavati is a holy figure who gets worshipped by some clans, some outfits demanded that any skin show of Deepika Padukone in the film would lead to the torching of theatres. Sensing the trouble, Bhansali took visual effects route to touch the exposed waist part in many scenes.
In the images we have posted, you could notice how the exposed waist of Deepika Padukone was meticulously touched by CG artists in Mumbai to make sure that it looks like a dress covering. And they have succeeded in their part we have to say.
On the flip side, looking at this work only reminds the educated people about the hypocrisy this country follows. We have many women wearing sarees every day and naturally, their waist gets exposed. And the ethnic dressing sense of many Rajasthani women often shows them in backless outfits. So in the name of what fantasy these people ask Deepika’s waist to be covered?
Sexism is not there at the waist that is shown but in the eyes of those sexists, it has deeply formed as a layer.
