Subramanyam Swamy to be made Rajya Sabha MP from TRS?

Why did Telangana CM KCR meet senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanyam Swamy? It is an open secret that Swamy is at loggerheads with the BJP top leadership and is likely to be sent home after his term in Rajya Sabha expires in April this year. So, why did KCR meet Swamy?

Highly placed sources say that KCR is planning to send Swamy back to Rajya Sabha on TRS ticket. Swamy in Rajya Sabha would mean trouble for the BJP.

He will target the BJP and torment it. He would also protect the interests of the TRS in Delhi. So, KCR is likely to nominate Subramanyam Swamy.

Subramanyam Swamy of late has been very critical of the BJP’s economic policies and the way in which it is handling the China issue.

With the BJP deciding not to renominate Swamy as he is well past 70, his attack has become more strident. It is in this background that KCR has decided to befriend him. Both met during KCR’s recent Delhi visit.

The term of three of the TRS MPs will expire this April. Swamy could be sent from one of these vacancies. The other MP seat is likely to go to film actor Prakash Raj, who is now a regular fixture in all the meetings that KCR is having with the leaders of the regional parties. KCR is said to be planning to keep him in Delhi as his representative.
