Pushpa 2 has been a resounding success, earning recognition for many of the key talents involved. Music director Sam CS, who composed the background score, was widely praised for his impactful work. However, one name that went largely unnoticed was that of budding choreographer Srashti Varma, who played a major role in choreographing the hit song Sooseki. Despite her significant contribution, her work hadn’t been acknowledged publicly—until now.
Renowned for his generosity and honesty, director Sukumar is known to credit even the smallest contributors to his projects. His past speeches at success meets often highlighted the efforts of assistant directors, technicians, and other behind-the-scenes talent. However, due to circumstances, he hadn’t yet had the opportunity to recognize Srashti’s contribution to Pushpa 2—until a recent event gave him that chance.
At the trailer launch of Sita Payanam, where Sukumar was one of the special guests, Srashti Varma was also in attendance for her work on that film. During his speech, Sukumar took a moment to publicly praise her and reveal a lesser-known fact—Srashti choreographed 80% of the Sooseki song, including several montage sequences.
“She did a fantastic job,” Sukumar said. “Srashti deserves the credit. She choreographed 80% of Sooseki and even worked on some montages. Her work is truly commendable.”
While Sooseki became a chartbuster, it’s only now that Srashti Varma is receiving the recognition she deserves. With Sukumar’s acknowledgment, her efforts have finally come into the spotlight.
