The teaser of Seetha Payanam, an upcoming Telugu film directed by veteran actor Arjun Sarja, was officially launched today in Hyderabad. The event was graced by renowned filmmaker Sukumar and Kannada superstar Upendra, who were invited as chief guests. The film also marks the debut of Arjun Sarja’s daughter, Aishwarya Arjun, in a lead role.
During the launch event, Sukumar took a moment to express his admiration for Upendra, describing him as a true visionary of Indian cinema. “I haven’t seen any filmmaker who brings the kind of madness and creative frenzy that Upendra does. Films like Om, A, and Upendra left a deep impact on me. Honestly, if I had made even one of those, I would’ve felt my career was complete,” Sukumar said, lauding Upendra’s cult classics.
The Pushpa director also candidly revealed that Upendra’s work has significantly influenced his own screenwriting style. “Every director from my generation has taken something from his films. Whatever screenplay brilliance you see in my movies today is because of those three iconic films. I’ve shamelessly borrowed from him,” he added with a smile, much to the delight of the audience.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sukumar is currently busy with the pre-production of his next film featuring Ram Charan. The much-anticipated project marks their reunion after the massive success of Rangasthalam. The team is currently conducting pre-production activities in the UAE, with Mythri Movie Makers backing the film.
With Seetha Payanam creating buzz and such glowing endorsements from top filmmakers, expectations are now higher than ever for both Aishwarya Arjun’s debut and Arjun Sarja’s directorial finesse.
