Sukumar, the maverick director known for his meticulous storytelling and perfectionism, is taking a well-deserved break after the demanding process of finishing Pushpa 2. His approach to filmmaking is known for its in-depth research, detailed scene designs, and careful execution. However, the immense pressure during the last six months leading up to Pushpa 2’s release took a toll on him, both mentally and physically.
Since the film’s release, Sukumar has remained relatively quiet and has not actively participated in the usual post-release promotions. Sources close to the director reveal that he has yet to begin working on his much-awaited project with Ram Charan. No script work, brainstorming, or team discussions have begun yet. Instead, Sukumar is focusing on recovery and regaining his health after the exhaustive work that went into Pushpa 2.
At the pre-release event of Pushpa 2, Sukumar appeared visibly drained, and during the Game Changer US event, he jokingly mentioned that if he had to give up something, it would be filmmaking. However, it’s clear that he’s not permanently stepping away from the industry but is simply taking a break to rest.
Sukumar is currently overseeing the projects of his assistants under the Sukumar Writings banner, ensuring his creative legacy continues while he recharges. As for his film with Ram Charan, it seems unlikely to start soon. Charan is occupied with Buchi Babu’s project, which will take a year to complete, meaning Sukumar may not begin scripting his film for another six months.
