Supreme Court Judge saves himself from hearing Jagan’s plea

Supreme Court Judge U.U. Lalit saved himself from hearing Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s plea in the Supreme Court on Monday, the 16th of November.

Speaking about not attending this case, Justice Lalit said that he represents one of the parties, and that he cannot preside over the hearing for this exact reason. He further added that he would give special orders for this hearing to take place under the supervision of another justice.

This case was filed against Jagan for writing a letter to the Chief Justice of India, against the Andhra Pradesh High Court Judges and against Supreme Court sitting Judge NV Ramana.

The judiciary took great offense against Jagan’s letter, which, according to them, questions the independence and integrity of the entire Judicial system as a whole. Several petitions were filed against Jagan, for his letter to the CJI.

G.S Mani, Sunil Kumar Singh, and the Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust, filed petitions against Jagan in the High Court, which all came to hearing today.
