Suriya’s Anjaan Set for Grand Re-Release After 11 Years

Suriya has faced his share of box office disappointments, and Anjaan is one of them. The film, which was released as Sikander in Telugu, was directed by Lingusamy. Now, more than a decade later, the movie is set for a grand re-release. Ahead of this, Lingusamy opened up about the criticism he faced during the film’s original release.

“Anjaan was one of the most trolled films 11 years ago. I’ve learned not to fear criticism now, because over the years, I’ve endured all kinds of abuse. On release day, I didn’t have enough time for proper editing. I 100% agree that I made a mistake,” the director admitted.

Back then, the release-day pressure was immense. Suriya was riding a wave of hits, but the team couldn’t devote sufficient time to post-production. While Anjaan received mixed reactions initially, over the years, it has earned appreciation from fans, with some even considering it a cult film in Suriya’s career.

With the upcoming re-release featuring a trimmed version, audiences now have a chance to experience the film in a new light, and hopefully, it will get the recognition it deserves at the theatres.
