Suriya‘s much acclaimed ‘Soorarai Pottru’, which was the only film in the Oscars 2021 race from India, is now out of the event as it failed to get nominated.
Soorarai Pottru was part of the 366 feature films that were eligible for consideration for the 93rd edition of the Oscars. The film has joined the race in many categories, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Feature Film and a few others.
As the voting process for the 366 films ended on the second week of March, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the final list today.
Sadly, the Sudha Kongara directorial couldn’t make it into the final list. The film is partially based on the life of Air Deccan CEO Gopinath. It was released directly on the OTT platform and received much appreciation across the country. Produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga, the film has music by GV Prakash.
