Nikhil, who rose to nationwide fame with the blockbuster Karthikeya 2, is now gearing up to storm theatres as a fierce warrior in his landmark 20th film, Swayambhu. Directed by Bharat Krishnamachari and produced by Bhuvan and Sreekar under Pixel Studios, with Tagore Madhu presenting, this ambitious Pan-India period action drama has officially completed its shoot.
After an extensive production schedule spanning almost two years and 170 intensive shooting days, the team has locked February 13, 2026, as the worldwide release date, aligning it with the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
Mounted on a grand scale, Swayambhu aims to recreate the glory of India’s ancient past, narrating the journey of a formidable warrior whose valor helped shape a golden era. The film blends historical inspiration with large-canvas storytelling designed to captivate audiences across all languages.
A specially crafted making-of video captures how a single idea blossomed into an entire cinematic universe — featuring expansive sets spread across acres, intricate detailing in production design, and massive investments to ensure authenticity at every level.
Nikhil describes the experience as both exhausting and exhilarating, introducing audiences to his battle companion — his horse Maruthi — and expressing gratitude to the technical crew for their relentless dedication. To embody the warrior, he underwent rigorous physical training and achieved a sculpted physique. Impressively, Nikhil has also dubbed for himself in the Hindi version, adding an extra dose of authenticity to this grand saga.
