Senior Congress party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Palvai Govardhan Reddy died of a massive heart attack on Friday.
He sustained the fatal heart attack in the vehicle he was traveling in while he was on his way to Kulu Manali, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh to attend a Parliamentary standing committee meeting. Soon after he complained of chest pain, he was admitted to the hospital but the cardiac arrest had the better of him. He was being accompanied by 10 other MPs to attend the meeting.
Born on 19 November, 1936 in Mahabubnagar district, Palvai had been in politics from the times of first Indian Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The 80-year-old politician was elected as an MLA five times since 1967. He served as an MLC between 2007 and 2009. He had been a Rajya Sabha MP since 2012.
Telangana Chief Minster K Chandrasekhara Rao recollected the times when Palvai had played a crucial role in the Telangana movement. He advised the state Chief Secretary and concerned authorities to make all necessary arrangement for bringing Palvai’s body back to Hyderabad from Himachal Pradesh.
Palvai’s sudden death has shocked the entire political fraternity. Condolence messages are pouring in from all corners.
