TDP Blocking Jagan’s House Sites Distribution

YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday blamed it on the TDP for the postponement of the house sites’ distribution programme, scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

“We thought we would take up house sites distribution on July 8 and hoped that it would transform the lives of lakhs of landless poor. Unfortunately, some TDP leaders moved the court and we were forced to go up to Supreme Court. Because of the Corona pandemic, cases could not be disposed,” Jagan said.

Jagan said if the government desired, it could have given the houses in the form of D-pattas and assigned lands immediately.

“But we thought we give the sisters registered plots. We are confident that justice would prevail one day, since we have taken up the noble cause,” he said.

He said his government was giving house sites to 20 per cent of the people in the state, making 30 lakh people owners of their new houses.

“The god will bless us to complete this good programme and we are confident that we get favourable judgement in the Supreme Court,” he said.

The chief minister said if everything went off well, the government would take up the house sites distribution by August 15.

“Like India got the independence on that day, the poor people of our state, too, would get freedom on that day,” he said.

Asking the collector to focus on the programme to implement it in a better way, Jagan said so far, 62,000 acres had been acquired for the programme.

“We have spent Rs 7,500 crore for the purchase of private lands. In all, we are going to distribute house sites worth Rs 20,000 crore among the landless poor, which is unprecedented in the state’s history,” he said.
