Andhra Pradesh TDP legislative member & chairperson of state women commission, Nannapaneni Rajakumari recently lashed out at Telugu serials that are attempting to promote women in an indecent way and representing them as violent elements. ‘TV serials now-a-days are presenting women in a villainy roles and also making them (characters) design plots to kill people. Is there any censor board existent for Television serials?,’ questioned Rajakumari at a press meet in Kakinada.
The senior TDP member also said that state commission for women would soon bring in a motion to ban such TV serials. Even before her claims, TV channels are gaining a severe criticism with such content and asserted to boycott if they continue to telecast
‘It’s completely disheartening to see very young women dealing with things that are anti-social and little children involving in crime incidents in TV serials. They are projecting women in an antagonist role who can stage a plot to assassinate her opponent in several ways. It’s indirectly inspiring viewers watching them,’ said Raja Kumari.
She went onto to demand boycotting these serials and suggested – TV channels should only act as bridge between government-public and telecast some helpful programs.
