Hyderabad: The Madhapur police has booked AP Telugu Desam MP M. Murali Mohan and five others on charges of bribery and trying to influence voters during the elections.
The case was registered following the seizure of Rs 2 crore on Wednesday night, said Cyberabad commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday.
The two persons from whose possession the cash was seized reportedly confessed that the money was supposed to be handed over to Mr Murali Mohan at Rajahmundry, said police.
A team from Madhapur police station and the Special Operations Team that was checking vehicles at Hitec City apprehended two employees of Jayabheri Properties Private Limited of Mr Murali Mohan — Nimmaluri Sri Hari, 44, of Nizampet and native of Krishna district, and Avuti Pandari, 39, a native of Medak district and resident of Lingampally.
They were in possession of two bags containing Rs 2 crore in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000. The Rs 500 notes amounted to Rs 96 lakh and Rs 2,000 notes totalled Rs 1.04 crore, said the commissioner.
“The two confessed that the cash was handed over to them by Dharma Raju and Jagan Mohan Rao, employees of Jayabheri Properties. They were directed to take the cash to Rajahmundry in a train from Secunderabad on April 1,” he said.
