TDP’s Cadre Training Drive: Chandrababu’s Grassroots Reboot

Share

One of the long-standing criticisms against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership — particularly against party supremo Chandrababu Naidu — has been the disconnect with grassroots cadres after elections. Interestingly, Chandrababu himself recently acknowledged this gap and has vowed to address it with a structured approach.

Taking his words seriously, the TDP has now initiated concrete steps to bridge this divide. As part of the effort, the party is launching a dedicated training program for its booth-level cadres across Andhra Pradesh.

According to party sources, experienced political strategists have been formed into teams and assigned the task of training local workers. These sessions will focus on key areas such as:

Effective use of social media

Combating YSRCP’s digital and ground-level narrative

Communicating government welfare schemes more effectively

Strengthening on-ground party presence

As a pilot project, the training has already begun in select constituencies like Visakhapatnam North, Chintalapudi, Tenali, Kanigiri, and Penugonda. The campaign is designed to keep the party’s grassroots machinery agile and politically updated, especially with the 2029 election battle already on the horizon.

This initiative is seen as a vital step in grooming leadership qualities among young and old cadres alike while also reinforcing their political relevance in a fast-evolving landscape. The full-fledged training campaign is expected to roll out after the Mahanadu — TDP’s annual conclave — scheduled from May 27–29.

This move follows another major success for the party — the massive membership campaign orchestrated by Nara Lokesh. Over one crore members were enrolled, each offered an insurance policy of ₹5 lakh — a first-of-its-kind initiative in regional party politics.

TDP cadres are reportedly upbeat about these proactive and corrective measures, as they reflect a new level of seriousness from the top leadership to avoid the mistakes of the past and empower the party from the ground up.
