Celebrated filmmaker Teja has been awarded the prestigious National Anti-Piracy Challenge Award for his relentless advocacy against content piracy. Speaking on the occasion, Teja emphasized the growing threat piracy poses to the creative ecosystem. “Piracy undermines creativity at its core,” he stated. “That’s why we’ve partnered with Nuronics — a company that proves what’s possible when AI is driven by purpose. Creators need more than takedown tools; they need protection from day one.”
Teja received the award from legendary actor Aamir Khan, a longtime collaborator. Reflecting on their association, Teja said, “I’ve known Aamir for decades. Working with him as a cinematographer was incredibly rewarding. He’s a true perfectionist.”
The recognition comes on the heels of Nuronics, a Hyderabad-based AI startup, winning the top prize at the Create in India Anti-Piracy Challenge. The competition, held at WAVES 2025 — India’s premier media and entertainment tech summit — saw over 1,600 teams participate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Create in India pavilion and reiterated the importance of indigenous innovation to tackle challenges in media, culture, and digital security.
“This government’s proactive stance against piracy is commendable,” Teja remarked. “With visionary backing, we’re not just defending content — we’re redefining how it’s protected.”
India’s media and entertainment industry suffers annual losses exceeding $1.2 billion due to piracy. Nuronics, in collaboration with Teja’s tech initiative Tezaract, aims to reverse this trend by introducing scalable, AI-powered solutions tailored for global deployment — echoing PM Modi’s ‘Made in India for the World’ vision.
Teja, widely recognized for directing hits like Nuvvu Nenu, Jayam, and Nijam, has also launched over 1,000 actors in Tollywood, cementing his legacy as a creative pioneer and industry mentor.
