Telangana Floods: Chief Minister Appeals for Central Assistance

Hyderabad, India – The Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are grappling with severe flooding caused by incessant heavy rainfall. The concerned governments have mobilized resources to assess the situation, conduct rescue operations, and provide relief to the affected population.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appealed to the Union Government for immediate financial assistance to address the devastating impact of the floods. He has requested the release of Rs 2,000 crore as flood relief funds, emphasizing the urgent need for support.

The Chief Minister convened a high-level meeting with Cabinet Ministers and officials to discuss the flood situation and devise strategies for effective response. He reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the crisis and criticized the opposition for their attacks.

The heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc on the state, causing widespread damage to crops, properties, and infrastructure. The loss of life and the severe impact on livelihoods have underscored the gravity of the situation. Chief Minister Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state personally to assess the damage and provide necessary support.

Experts have described the current rainfall as one of the highest recorded in recent times in Telangana. Even the IT hub of Hyderabad has been significantly affected by the heavy downpours.
