Telangana governor launches breast cancer awareness month programme at Rajbhavan

As part of international breast cancer awareness month on Sunday, medical experts and health officials who attended the digital conference had decided to initiate an extensive action plan for behaviour change towards lifestyle modifications and proficient service delivery.

The Union health secretary, K Sujatha Rao said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in India. If diagnosed early and treated early, many lives can be saved. It is for this reason that the government is focusing on raising awareness, early screening and diagnosis among women.”

An action plan for behavior change towards lifestyle modification is the most pressing question she stated while addressing at the event held by the city-based Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation (UBF).

Telangana governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, who was the chief guest of the event said she was delighted to know that Dr Ushalakshmi, an 87-year-old breast cancer conqueror and a noteworthy obstetrician and gynecologist has established KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases & Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation.

The governor launched breast cancer awareness month programme at Rajbhavan and called for promoting better awareness. She declared that the Raj Bhavan at Hyderabad will be illuminated in pink on the last day of October to commemorate the Breast cancer awareness drive.
