Concerns over choreography and dance sequences in Telugu cinema have been growing, with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Dabidi Dibidi song from Daaku Maharaj becoming the latest flashpoint. The song, featuring Balakrishna and Urvashi Rautela, has sparked criticism for its choreography, with many expressing discomfort over certain gestures and the portrayal of women in the video.

Taking note of these complaints, the Telangana State Women’s Commission has strongly objected to the song, raising concerns about the objectification of women in cinema. In an official statement, the commission acknowledged receiving multiple complaints regarding the depiction of women in certain film songs and responded with serious intent. “Cinema is a powerful medium that influences society. Any elements that insult or portray women in an indecent manner are a cause for serious concern,” the statement read.

The commission further questioned the inclusion of obscenity and demeaning portrayals of women in mainstream cinema, urging filmmakers to be more responsible in their creative choices. This incident has reignited discussions about the need for Telugu cinema to reevaluate its approach to choreography and song visuals, emphasizing a shift toward more respectful and thoughtful representation of women on screen.
