Telugu Box Office Eyes Revival with New Friday Releases

The Telugu box office has witnessed an unusually dull phase this week. Following the mixed response to Baahubali: The Epic re-release and the disappointing run of Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara, theatres across the Telugu states are seeing alarmingly low occupancy. Except for a few multiplexes in Hyderabad, footfalls have dropped significantly.

Trade analysts note that Baahubali: The Epic collected whatever it could during its opening weekend, while Mass Jathara has already fizzled out. Now, all eyes are on Friday, November 7, as multiple new releases aim to revive audience interest.

Among them, Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend is leading the buzz. Marketed as a refreshing take on modern love, the film is banking heavily on Rashmika’s massive fan following. If word-of-mouth turns favorable, it could turn out to be a much-needed hit this season.

Another notable release is Sudheer Babu’s Jatadhara. Though its pre-release hype has been moderate, the team remains optimistic that strong reviews and audience support could turn things around. As a fantasy drama, it might follow the surprise success pattern of Mirai, which impressed both critics and viewers earlier.

On the other hand, Thiruveer’s The Greatest Pre-Wedding Show is struggling to grab attention and will depend entirely on audience word-of-mouth post-release.

The Tamil dubbed thriller Aryan, starring Vishnu Vishal, is also hitting screens this week — a week after its Tamil version opened to average reviews. Vishnu Vishal has been actively promoting the film in Hyderabad to build some momentum ahead of its Telugu debut.

Additionally, small-scale releases like Premisthunna and Krishna Leela are testing their luck at the ticket window, while Emraan Hashmi’s Hawk adds a dash of pan-Indian presence to this week’s lineup.
