Telugu Box Office Sees September Revival with Small-Film Success

After a long lull, theatres across the Telugu states are once again witnessing housefull boards, thanks to quality content from filmmakers. While big-budget films struggled to strike a chord with audiences in recent months, small and mid-range films have stepped up to keep the theatrical business alive, ensuring a steady flow of revenue for nearly a month.

Among the current releases, Little Hearts, starring Mouli and Shivani, continues its dream run at the box office. Despite facing competition from newer releases, the film has retained a loyal audience base, ensuring sustained collections and healthy profits for its producers and distributors.

Two new releases, Kishkindhapuri and Mirai, hit the screens this Friday and opened to encouraging numbers. Mirai, starring Teja Sajja, is clearly leading the weekend race, receiving an overwhelming response and massive bookings across centres. The film’s immersive cinematic experience is being widely appreciated by audiences.

Kishkindhapuri, featuring Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas and Anupama Parameswaran, has also been performing steadily. Billed as a horror entertainer, the film is being praised for staying true to its genre and offering a refreshing experience for horror fans. Its day-two collections have already surpassed its opening day, hinting at strong word-of-mouth growth.

After a lacklustre summer and a relatively quiet monsoon season for Telugu cinema, September has finally brought much-needed joy to theatres. With multiple films performing well simultaneously, the industry is optimistic about sustaining this momentum — at least until the highly anticipated OG takes over the box-office euphoria.
