The Chief Ministers of the Telugu states, Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy, are currently participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos. Earlier today, the two briefly met at the airport and exchanged cordial words.
What stands out, however, is the disciplined and cost-conscious approach both leaders have taken at the start of their trip. In stark contrast to the usual practice of flying on special chartered flights and using luxury cars, both Naidu and Reddy opted for a more economical and practical travel style.
Typically, representatives from the Telugu states take special flights from Vijayawada or Hyderabad to Zurich, which incur significant costs for the state exchequer. After arriving in Zurich, they are then provided with expensive cars for the onward journey. However, in a departure from this norm, Chandrababu Naidu took a regular flight from Vijayawada to Delhi and then boarded a connecting flight to Zurich, foregoing the usual VIP treatment.

Similarly, Revanth Reddy chose a regular flight from Singapore to Zurich and, rather than using luxury transport, took a train from Zurich to Davos. This marks the first time a Telugu state CM has opted for a train journey to Davos, demonstrating a clear shift in priorities.
This move is seen as a positive gesture, especially given the financial challenges faced by both states, burdened with loans and borrowings. By cutting costs in this manner, the chief ministers are setting an example of fiscal responsibility and walking the talk when it comes to prudent expenditure.
