Tamil Nadu politics witnessed a major political moment with the Maanadu event organized by TVK party president Thalapathy Vijay in Madurai. The event drew a massive crowd, highlighting Vijay’s growing influence and public appeal.
The main highlight was Vijay’s fiery speech, where he departed from his usual style to deliver an aggressive, no-holds-barred critique of all major political parties in the state. He confidently declared that the TVK party will contest all 234 assembly constituencies in the upcoming 2026 elections. “I am contesting in all 234 constituencies. The candidate standing from your household is none other than me. That candidate and I are one and the same. Voting for them is like voting for me,” Vijay proclaimed. He also confirmed that he will contest from Madurai East in the election—a significant announcement months ahead of time.
Vijay didn’t hold back in targeting Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, saying, “This chief minister does not have any response when questioned about public policy or his misrule over the last four years. He must answer every single complaint if he has any concerns.”
He also criticized the NDA government, stating, “This government has done absolutely nothing for Tamil Nadu—be it the fishermen issue, NEET, or central funds. We got nothing from them.” Vijay even went after the opposition AIADMK, accusing Palaniswamy of having no clue about leading the party founded by G. Ramachandran.
With his aggressive stand against all major parties, Vijay signaled that he is ready to fight the election independently through the TVK party. The crucial challenge ahead will be translating this momentum into actual votes, which will determine the real outcome of the 2026 elections.
