The Raja Saab, starring pan-India superstar Prabhas, is shaping up to be the biggest Sankranti release in Tollywood this year. The makers surprised trade circles and fans by unveiling the theatrical trailer well in advance, creating massive anticipation and boosting the pre-release market. However, since then, the team has gone silent, even as the release date rapidly approaches.
The first single from this Maruthi-directed film was expected by now, but its release has been delayed for unknown reasons. While the team has dismissed postponement rumors and reaffirmed that the film is on track for its January 9th release, the delay in launching the promotional campaign has left fans frustrated.
Other Sankranti releases, such as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu and Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, have already started promotions with their first singles. Even Ram Charan’s Peddi, slated for a March release, recently unveiled its first song. These tracks are dominating music charts and generating strong buzz for their respective films. In contrast, The Raja Saab promotions have yet to begin.
The delay is particularly concerning given the film’s scale: a wide multi-language release with a budget exceeding ₹400 crores, and the need to capitalize on Prabhas’ pan-India stardom. With just two months to go for the worldwide release, it is crucial that the first single drops immediately to generate momentum, especially in Hindi and other languages.
Fans are eagerly awaiting music composer SS Thaman to deliver an album and background score that match the high expectations. Apart from Prabhas, the film stars Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar, with Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt playing a pivotal role. The clock is ticking, and the film’s promotional campaign cannot afford any further delay.
