Has former CBI official Lakshminarayana reached a political dead-end? It appears so. Lakshminarayana, who hogged limelight by dealing with some high-profile corruption cases, left his DGP post in Maharashtra and joined politics ahead of the 2019 elections. But, the journey has so far been bumpy and the future seems uncertain.
JD Lakshminarayana, as he is known, has clear pro-BJP moorings but the BJP did not offer him much. He then took up farmers’ issues and undertook a state-wide tour. At that time, he appeared veering towards the TDP, but suddenly joined the Jana Sena. He contested the Lok Sabha elections from Visakhapatnam in 2019, but was defeated. Since then he has again moved closer to the BJP. However, on the issue of Vizag steel plant, he differed with the BJP and had even filed a petition against the Central Government. Thus, the doors for him are shut in the BJP.
The latest is that he has moved back to Vizag and has made it clear that he would contest the elections next time. If sources close to him are to be believed, he is planning to concentrate on Bheemili assembly constituency. He is now staying in Vizag and is working to woo the voters. But, which party he will contest from? Well! He stands no chance in YSRCP for obvious reasons. The BJP has shut its doors. The Jana Sena is in totters. The TDP is not exactly interested him.
