Why does Jagan frequently go to New Delhi and meet either Modi or Amit Shah or both? The TDP sources say Jagan goes only to get the cases against him quashed. He goes there to plead for mercy and petition to the home minister to get the cases lifted.
But, if one goes by what the Central Government says, Jagan’s repeated Delhi visits are mainly intended to borrow from the Centre or to seek permission to borrow loans. Union Minister of State for Finance said that Jagan has come to seek financial support. The State government is not in a position even to pay the salaries of the government employees without outside financial support.
The Union Minister of State for Finance said that in 2021-22, the Jagan government sought permission to borrow Rs 27000 crore. Jagan himself appealed to the Central government to increase the borrowing limit to Rs 42472 crore. This was stated in a reply to a question raised by TDP Rajya Sabha MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar.
From this reply, at least one this is clear. Jagan is not going to get his cases lifted. He is going to mop up funds to run the state. Whether borrowing is good or not is a moot question, but the issue is Jagan has no fear of the cases. His is only fear is the state going bankrupt.
