No Yash–Ranbir Face-Off in Ramayana Part 1

Yash, who plays Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana, has revealed that there will be no on-screen face-off between him and Ranbir Kapoor in the first part of the film.

In a recent interview, Yash explained that both characters exist in separate narrative arcs in the initial installment. Ravana is shown ruling his own kingdom, while Rama’s journey unfolds independently, meaning the two do not share screen space in the first part.

However, Yash clarified that they have interacted off-screen and share great mutual respect. He praised Ranbir Kapoor as a “fabulous actor” and emphasized that the entire team is united with a single goal—to deliver an extraordinary cinematic experience. According to him, with such a strong collective vision, on-screen chemistry is not a concern.

Director Nitesh Tiwari also highlighted that Ravana will not be portrayed as a one-dimensional villain. Instead, the character will be depicted with depth—as a powerful warrior, a scholar, a musician, and a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. The aim is to showcase the many layers of Ravana and underline the larger themes of ego and vengeance.

Mounted on a massive budget of around ₹4,000 crore, Ramayana is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The music is composed by A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, marking their first collaboration.

The film is planned as a two-part epic, with the first installment scheduled for release in October 2026 ahead of Diwali, and the second part expected during Diwali 2027.
