The actions of the Telangana NGO associations and the secretarial employees union are not becoming controversial. The leaders of these associations have decided to organize thanks-giving sabhas across Telangana to thank the TRS government for giving 40 per cent fitment to the employees. The meetings are timed to coincide with the Huzurabad bypoll. The sabhas would be launched from Karimnagar district. Huzurabad is part of Karimnagar.
The timing and the launch venue have become controversial. Clearly, they are being organized in such a way that they would benefit the ruling TRS. Why are the leaders of the employees unions organizing these thanks giving meetings now when the fitment was given months ago? This question is being asked by the political parties and the employees themselves. Many employees have questioned the political bias of the leadership.
Already the employees union leaders are being accused of pandering to the ruling party in the state. Several leaders have been accused of accepting favours from the ruling party in return for supporting the party. Congress leaders such as former MP Ponnam Prabhakar and MLC Jeevan Reddy have slammed the leaders of the TNGO and TGO office-bearers for becoming lackeys of the ruling TRS. They said that the employees unions were known to fight for their rights but now they are being seen as tools in the hands of the ruling party.
The BJP too found fault with the place and timing of the sabhas. Why should the meetings be organized now and why are they being organized in Karimnagar district, which is going to face a very important bypoll, the party said. However, the TNGO and the TGOs are going ahead with the programme regardless of the objections and criticism.
