While April 2019 is utilised a bit well by Telugu Film Industry folks as the likes of Majili (Apr 5th release), Chitralhari (Apr 12) and Jersey (Apr 19) have done pretty well at the box office, the hot May month has seen a complete whitewash. Barring Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi, nothing worked for Tollywood in this hottest summer, where people wanted to feel the relief through movies.
Allu Sirish’s ABCD, Kajal’s Sita, Surya’s NGK, Tamanna’s Abhinetri 2, Anjali’s Lissa and Hollywood movie Aladdin failed to entertain Telugu audiences. However, the only relief came from Vijay Antony’s Killer in the first week of June, which is hundreds of times better than the above movies. One wonders why Tollywood failed to cash on such a holiday season. Also, IPL and World Cup hawa, and the political turmoil in AP followed by YS Jagan’s victory have made people glued to them, leaving films aside.
Cut to next few weeks, Taapsee’s Game Over, Saptagiri’s Vajrakavachadara Govinda, biopic film Mallesham, comedy caper Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, Aadhi’s Burrakatha, Rajasekhar’s Kalki and Sri Vishnu’s Brochervarevarura are hitting cinemas in the next three weeks. Hope at least some of those films click and entertain the audiences big time.
