US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that any future killing of American soldiers will result in a severe response. In a social media post on Monday, Trump said that “every time Iran kills an American Soldier” from now on, Iran would “pay for that killing many times over.” He added that the message had already been communicated to US military officials but did not provide further details about possible actions.
The warning comes amid escalating military tensions between the United States and Iran, with both sides engaged in renewed attacks for a second consecutive week. The US launched its ninth night of airstrikes on Iran after confirming the death of another American service member in Iraq during the controlled detonation of a damaged Iranian drone.
The US military also confirmed the deaths of two soldiers in Jordan on Friday while they were responding to Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Since the beginning of the conflict, 17 US troops have reportedly been killed.
The latest wave of hostilities has seen the US target key Iranian infrastructure, including bridges, power facilities, and locations linked to the country’s missile capabilities. Recent strikes have also focused on areas believed to house underground missile bases, increasing fears of a broader military confrontation.
