The President of the United States, Donald Trump, is reportedly considering another controversial move, with fresh discussions emerging around Greenland. According to reports in US media, Trump recently directed special forces commanders to quietly prepare contingency plans for a possible military operation involving Greenland. Though described internally as a theoretical exercise rather than an immediate order, the directive has allegedly caused unease within senior military circles.
Sources familiar with the matter say top Pentagon officials strongly opposed the idea, raising concerns over both its legality and strategic rationale. Military leaders reportedly argued that any action against Greenland would violate international law and seriously strain relations with Denmark, a key NATO ally. Greenland is an autonomous territory under Danish sovereignty, and the United States already operates military facilities there under long-standing defence agreements.
