Adivi Sesh has acknowledged that certain creative shortcomings may have affected the reception of his latest film Dacoit, which opened to mixed reviews.

Critics pointed out issues with the film’s convenient screenplay and implausible situations, drawing particular attention to its narrative execution. Responding to the feedback, Sesh admitted that the COVID-era hospital sequences could have been handled with stronger logic and more grounded writing. He also conceded that the heist portions were relatively simplistic in their treatment.

At the same time, he noted that audience expectations may have influenced the perception of the film, suggesting that viewers were anticipating a more “intelligent” narrative given his earlier work.

Currently running in theatres, Dacoit has struggled to gain strong box office traction. The film’s collections have reportedly fallen short of expectations, leaving producers, distributors, and trade circles disappointed.
